A dvent is the season where we prepare for the coming of Christ, first in the physical Nativity in Bethlehem, the reception of Christ in the heart of the believer and the second coming. Advent is a time for us to prepare our hearts and set our minds to the second coming of Christ. We celebrate hope, peace, joy, and love during this time. Like the three kings making the pilgrimage to Bethlehem, you can journey to the Holy Land to celebrate his birth and second coming. In Ireland, you can learn about St. Patrick bringing Christianity to the island and the history of the early church while enjoying carolers and Christmas markets. In Mexico, you can enjoy the elaborate Nativity scenes, Spanish Christmas Carols, dancing, and fireworks while also celebrating the Anniversary of our Lady of Guadalupe that falls during Advent. In Assisi, during the second Sunday of Advent, they bless the Nativity scene and light the Christmas tree in the square, and the town is beautifully decorated for the season. In Rome, you can enjoy the Nativity scene in St. Peter’s Square, the huge Christmas tree at Piazza Venezia, and spend time shopping at the Christmas markets. An additional special addition to Rome for 2025 is that you will be able to walk through the Holy Doors in 2025 in celebration of the Jubilee year. On our Christmas Markets on the Rhine River cruise, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the famous seasonal markets in Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Rudesheim, Ludwigshafen, Strasbourg, and Breisach. Advent is a wonderful time for pilgrimage and fellowship as we prepare our hearts for Christmas and remember that Christ is coming.
